RJ Speed LTO

There’s a lot of shimmy and a whole lot of shake and we’ve had several people ask us how and what we were doing with the RJ Speed LTO to get some of the rear shake out it. After searching the internet and not having much luck this is what we came up with.

First I want you to remember these are just tuning suggestions that seemed to work for us and may or may not work for you on your track. So with that said here is a little background on our setups. We started running spec class with the standard Photon 2 motor but we were constantly pushing the limits and sometimes burning up a motor a week and coning a set of tires a week. So our solutions was to add a Castle brushless motor/esc combo we all agreed upon and added CRC rubber tires to help eliminate those problems.

Now to the good stuff. Remember flex is key. So the first thing I did is removed the center bolt from the T-plate. Also we made braces to help control some of the shake because of the 4″ tall body post. It’s made from the RJ Speed kingpin brace on the Legend. Part #5240.

Now the next thing is the only suspension you have is with two pieces of rubber. You don’t want to totally leave them loose because you will end up bending the rod like I did. So what I did was pick up the damper assembly part#5079 from the spec kits and kinda retro fit how the LTO kit was setup as seen in the following photo.

That’s pretty much it. You can play with the length of the wheelbase but most all the adjustments was done thru the rear suspension and adjustment of the T-plate. Happy tuning!
